For some reason I can’t get my photos to upload. I’m not sure why. Probably some bug with my blogging server. I just primed two big canvases and my hands are sticky…ick. It doesn’t seem to be getting on the keyboard, thankfully. Or maybe I just don’t notice it. Ah, who cares, really.
It’s getting down to the wire… the preview party for the Art Scene is Thursday night, (by the way, lots of art free wine and food! you’re invited… when they ask, tell, ‘em you’re with me! Broadway and Maple, North Little Rock, AR… check my calendar for the map!) and I’ve only got 2 or 3 paintings left to do to be comfortably prepared. I have to say, that’s pretty good for me. Thing is, though, that I also have a zillion other things to do for it as well. I’m not stressing over it (for once), mainly because the paintings are the most important thing, all the rest is really just fluff. I do need to get my new business cards soon, but other than that, everything else is pretty much optional.
The big thing is that I’ve been pretty creative the last few days, and I’ve really started to come up with some cool new stuff. (New stuff I wanted to post on the blog, but since I can’t upload it I’m out of luck…nope, still not working). I’ve been doing a lot of geometric abstraction (don’t know what the hell that means? I’ll get it posted soon… you’ll understand when you see it) which is, in my opinion beautifully simple, and a welcome change. As the customer who bought my first one (before it was finished, I might add) said, “the elegance is in it’s simplicity.” I love that. I just started this Saturday, which, I might add, was the longest day ever, but that’s a blog for another day. I don’t feel much like bitching (for once! ha!).
By the way, I did finish the feet. I’m quite proud of the way they turned out (again, I’d like to show you, but…). And thanks, Ms. Kieft, for the lovely comment!
Quick side note… everyone pleeeeeeease sign my map! Thanks!

I’m working on a CafePress Store. Right now I only have a few things, but I’ll be adding more as I get more painting images uploaded. Check it out here www.cafepress.com/dancingrabbit. I’ve also decided to use the name version of my website (www.aprilburris.com) primarily instead of www.dancingrabbitstudio.com. This change is mainly due to the name Dancing Rabbit Studio being so damn long but also because I want to use my signature in my logo. So… (drumroll, please) here it is. The new logo!!! Ta-Da!

Of course, if you just looooove www.dancingrabbitstudio.com, it’ll still be active and you can still use it.

Hello everyone! I know I’ve really been slacking off lately on the website and blog. Don’t worry, though… I haven’t stopped painting. I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things with my internet business. Lately I’ve been focusing on marketing locally a little more by doing the Little Rock Farmer’s Market to slowly begin creating a local buzz about my work. I figure, hell, I live here. I should be selling here too.
And it’s working.
Last week I was invited to join a fabulous showroom on Cantrell called “Elements of Design and today I’m really focusing on creating some new things for that exhibit as well as some bigger gallery pieces for other hangings. I’m going BIG! I’ll be selling small stuff (24″x24″ and below) on Ebay and at small markets for cheap ($200 and below) and keeping the big stuff (from 24″x30″ to 60″+) for upscale showings.
I’m also teaching a class every other Tuesday at 2PM at a local retirement home http://goodshepherdcommunity.com. Since I committed to teach, I keep hearing that teaching is the best way to learn, so we’ll see if my work improves dramatically over the next couple of months.
Last bit (I think) of news… Today I was accepted to hang at the Starving Artist Cafe in downtown Little Rock www.starvingartistcafe.net. I’ll be painting at the Starving Artist during dinner Thursday, October 12 and Wednesday, October 25. I think I’m bringing work for sale as well, so hopefully this will turn out to be a profitable venture. Hey, any exposure is good, no matter how small.
Oh, one more thing. The Artery opened Saturday night in Eureka Springs http://www.eurekaspringsartists.com/artery.shtml. I know they won’t have the new Artery posted anytime soon, but my panel is the third from the left, right next to the ‘Thanks to…” board. Actually, you know what? Here it is.
